Friends of St Teresa’s
The Friends of St Teresa`s Home for the Elderly are a voluntary group of friends who raise funds throughout the year, to offer enjoyment and comfort to all our Residents. The Friends have been an integral part of the Home since it opened in 1988, with links to the hospital predating this.
The Friends have raised their funds through Summer Garden Parties and Christmas Fairs, which takes a great deal of co-ordination and effort. The proceeds mean that they are able to support six outings each Spring\Summer for the Residents to local attractions. They are important as it is not only something to look forward too, enjoy the day but also to have the experience to reflect with the other Residents.
A flutist, Leonard Paice, plays each week for the Residents whom is provided by the Friends and has become a highlight of the week. It consists of a diverse mix of old and new music which inevitably concludes in a sing-a-long.
The beautiful and colourful flowers around the gardens are tended too by the Friends, brightening up the borders and baskets.
If you are interested in supporting the Friends new members are always welcome.
